UK ¡V Grapping the Opportunity

The UK was the first to have its horse racing and gambling industries hit by the rapid growth of Internet gaming. Its current direction is, however, to become the centre of e-commerce and has taken on Internet gaming as an opportunity to expand further. Some critics expected that since the market in Western Europe and Asian countries are growing so rapidly, the US market will soon shrink from current level to around 40% of the total market.

There are regulations in some states in the USA that allow Internet gaming for horse racing industry but not for the casino industry. Compare this with the UK where a lot of the Internet gaming activity is based. This is because the UK government embraces the opportunity more than anyone else, as well as gaming at large. There have been recommendations to the government on how to open up gaming throughout the UK. This means a majority of those restrictions would go away and the gaming market would open up.
