About the Author

Mr. Kan currently serves on the Listing Committee of the GEM (Growth Enterprise Market) of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong and the Corporate Governance Working Groups of the Securities & Futures Commission and the Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Limited. He was a Committee Member of the Technology Committee, Technology & Industry Development Council of the Hong Kong Government Industry Department in 1993 - 1994. In 1999 & 2000, Mr. Kan was a member of the Korea/Hong Kong Business Roundtable, organized by the Trade Development Council. Mr. Kan is also a Committee Member of TDC Electronics/Electrical Appliances Industry Advisory Committee, a General Committee Member and a Chairman's Committee Member of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, a Board member of the Youth Arts Festival, and the Founding Chairman of the Three-Year MBA Association of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Mr. Kan is a member of the European Association for the Study of Gambling.

Mr. Kan was awarded the 1^st Electronic Design Competition Award in 1988; the Governor Award for Industry in 1989; the 1992 Young Industrialist Award; the Enterprise Trophy of the 1993 Hong Kong Business Award; and in Europe, the 1994 International Trophy for Technology & Quality. Mr. Kan served on the Judging Panels of 1994 Hong Kong Business Award and 2000 Young Industrialist Award. Mr. Kan is also the author of the Hong Kong E-Commerce Study Series, and a regular public speaker at various forums and conferences.
